10 Flicks Everyone Owns- Horror Edition

Let’s face it. You have one or all of these.

10. Friday the 13th– Before Jason Voorhees became the mascot of this horror franchise, it was his mother that did the hacking of the camp counslers in this 1980 slasher film. Quite personally, it’s not one of my favorites, but that doesn’t stop me or anyone else from owning this film. Which version do you own the original vhs release or those early 2000’s VHS? DVD or Blu-ray?

09. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)– A killer named Fred Krueger is murdering kids in their dreams. It was an instant classic and much like the Friday the 13th films, it had a sequel a year later. Somewhere in your collection you have this!

08. The Blair Witch Project– Three filmmakers are lost in the woods and are being stalked by a witch. One of the most popular found footage films. Find yours and place it in the corner.

07. Freddy vs. Jason– In 2003, two horror icons met. Freddy and Jason fought to the death, although they can’t die! It’s the last Freddy and Jason film to be released on VHS. You either own it seperately or in a pack!

06. Shaun of the Dead– A man breaks up with his girlfriend, the next day there is a zombie apocalypse! It’s one of the best horror comedies ever from Edgar Wright starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. Did you trade Child’s Play 2 and Seed of Chucky for this? 😉

05.) Scream– In the 1990’s, horror was almost dead until this film came out. It’s regarded as one of the best horror films of the 1990’s. Do you like scary movies and own them?

04.) Halloween (1978)– John Carpenter’s groundbreaking horror masterpiece about a killer stalking a babysitter on the scariest night of the year. It was at one time, the highest grossing independent film and became a best seller on home video, it’s safe to say, you contributed to that success.

03.) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)– Now, the original TCM is one of the greatest horror films of all time and it’s remake is actually pretty good. I know, not everyone owns the original, but folks sure own this one.

02.) The Shining (1980)– Stanley Kubrick’s take on the Stephen King tale. It’s a film that’s shrouded in mystery, did Kubrick film the moon landing? Is Jack Nicholson handsome? How long have you owned this?

01.) Night of the Living Dead (1968)– George A. Romero’s first zombie film! It’s one of the most iconic horror films ever. The film is in the public domain, which means anyone could release. I actually remember owning multiple versions of this on DVD.
