I have been super busy. So busy that I haven’t really been able to do much. I’ve watched both Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes. So I’ll offer up some quick reviews.
Spider-Man: Homecoming- It’s the first Spider-Man alone film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man who is trying to impress Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). He has teenage problems as well as supervillian problems. The villain is The Vulture played by the magnificent actor, Michael Keaton.
The film was truly fun. From beginning to end. Tom Holland is doing some great things as Spidey. The scene in the car between him and the Vulture is probably one of the greatest scenes in the MCU. I rate this film ahead of Spider-Man 3, and the Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2. But falls behind the first two Sam Raimi Spidey outings.
War for the Planet of the Apes- Following the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, we see Caesar continuing to fight for freedom of his apes brothers. But, he suffers a loss at the hands of heartless Army asshole played by the lovely Woody Harrelson. Caesar goes for revenge before he is captured and tortured.
This was a magnificent film. There were so many moments that I had gasped like a fanboy. The film references things that you didn’t know you wanted explained. The film also brought tears to my eyes. The CGI was amazing. These past 3 Apes flicks have been great and I dare say they are better than the original series. Fight me..
